Ace & Pudgy

Creating Ace & Pudgy

Reckless energy meets an instinct for chaos

A Shared Rhythm

Ace’s core design remains unchanged, fast, reckless, expressive, but Pudgy reshapes how that energy moves. Where Ace is volatility in motion, Pudgy is momentum incarnate. The little penguin does not pause to question danger; it slides through it, perfectly in tune with chaos. That rhythm guided this card’s design.

Perfect Timing

The Energy gain reflects Pudgy’s uncanny sense of timing. It is never planning, never calculating. A Pudgy appears because it should, always at the moment that matters most. The card’s draw embodies that same instinct, action arriving naturally, without hesitation.

Partners In Rebellion

Visually, Ace still bursts with color and movement, but Pudgy introduces contrast. Smiling and centered, the penguin is a quiet counterweight to Ace’s kinetic energy. Together they showcase a different kind of rebellion, one that laughs as the system scrambles to keep up. In designing them, it became clear that they are partners, two sides of the same coin, of a single core belief, balancing chaos and grace, instinct and impulse.

Lore And Legend

Pudgy appeared one day without warning, waddling through the Underground as if it had always belonged, blinking at the alarmed faces that had never seen a penguin before

An Unlikely Arrival

No alarms sounded and no system recorded it. When Hikari later checked the logs, he found only a blank space where Pudgy should have been: a glitch, a whisper, a creature that lived somewhere between data and deity. Ace had been watching Hamie fuss over Simba, a loyal companion already claimed, with the pang of a hollow ache all too familiar by now. He had never had that. He had never been the one someone chose.

Two Halves Of Chaos

Then Pudgy tumbled into his arms, soft and absurdly warm, and pressed close without hesitation. Ace laughed, a real chuckle, a sound that startled even himself. In that instant, loneliness softened into something else, something mischievous, something like belonging. From that day on, they were inseparable. They darted through unfinished tunnels, leapt across reckless rooftops, and tumbled through the Underground like two halves of a single heartbeat.

Beyond The Known

Ancient texts hinted at beings like Pudgy, scribbled in margins as if they existed somewhere beyond even the Beyond. Never confirmed and never denied, but nonetheless, Ace did not care where it came from. What mattered was who it was: a spark of chaos just like him, a loyal companion, a perfect partner for the first time in a world that had felt too loud and too empty.
