Designed For Restraint
Hikari’s character design reflects restraint rather than absence. Though his vision was never fully compromised, his light sensitivity, a result of being born inside the experiment facility, informs many through his visual gear choice. His clothing is oversized and slightly baggy, designed for comfort and function over presence. It allows him to move freely through the Underground while visually receding into the environment, being a character who works best when unnoticed.
Colour As Contradiction
The most intentional choice is his colour palette. Despite his personality being sharp, easily irritated, and emotionally “grey,” that colour is entirely absent from his design. This contradiction is deliberate: Hikari hides his trauma rather than wearing it.
What Lies Beneath
Where others externalise pain through armour or markings, he conceals it, only revealing what lies beneath when he decides it’s safe.
